About Us

Timber To Terra was founded by Patrick Keney and Matt Smith — two Colorado-based land stewards committed to practical, regenerative solutions for forest and soil health.

Matt Smith holds a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) from Western Colorado University and currently serves as the Watershed Coordinator in Routt County for the Headwaters of the Colorado Initiative. His background spans earth and watershed sciences, land restoration, and biochar research focused on turning woody waste into long-term ecological value.

Patrick Keney is a Colorado native and the Owner and Founder of Johnny Apple Tree Care. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies from Metropolitan State University of Denver. An ISA Certified Arborist and Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) professional, Patrick brings deep expertise in tree care, land management, and organic farming practices.

Together, they built Timber To Terra to connect forest stewardship with regenerative soil solutions across the forested regions of Colorado.
